Hi all I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Mine has been pretty good, I got a bit done around the house and have spent some time with hook and yarn and I’m pleased to say I have a completed project! Earlier in the week Elena from Beatriceryandesigns
posted about these cute Mary Jane SkimmersI went and checked them out and of course bought the pattern. I completed a pair this weekend for myself, I wear slippers at work (no shoes allowed in my room, crawling babies) only they look like real shoes. Since I am on carpet all day I chose not to make them non-skid or outdoor useable, but the pattern author has a nice article about this on her blog: http://hookcandy.blogspot.com/2011/10/making-crocheted-slippers-non-slip.html
Aren’t they cute! the pattern can be found here on Ravelry
I found the pattern to be easy to follow and well written. It cost a bit more than I usually will pay for a single item pattern, but I am glad I splurged.
I made the XS size with an I hook with Red Heart Love yarn in the color lettuce and Caron One Pound in the color espresso. I really enjoyed working with the Love yarn, even with 2 strands it was nice, the Caron on the other hand was difficult a bit too stiff and hard to work with 2 strands. They fit perfectly, I wear size 6 shoes. I already have plans for another pair, just need to decide on the yarn.
I will purchase from HookCandy again, I saw a couple of other patterns I thought I might like. Time to cook supper I am making Ham and Asparagus Fried Rice from this recipe

Ya’ll have a great week! Angel

Hi all, hoping ya’ll are having a great weekend! Other than it still being very gray and cold outside and I have the ick and feel like crap, mines okay.
On Easter Rob gave me some flowers and I pulled out a handy dandy mason jar to use as a vase. I have a ton of mason jars, Rob once bought 21 cases for 10 bucks, thinking everyone in the family would want some! Guess what? Nobody did!
I’ve been thinking since than the flowers would look prettier if they were in a pretty vase. So I set out to make it prettier, starting with browsing the web and I found two that I liked, but weren’t quite what I was looking for, so I kinda made my own inspired by:
Crochet Dynamite – http://www.crochetdynamite.com/2013/01/mason-jar-covers.html
and
Attic 24 – http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/2008/09/idle-hooking.html
Mason Jar Cover
Supplies:
Lily Sugar and Cream 1 skein white, 1 skein Sunny Sky ( did not use full skeins)
Size G (4.0 mm ) hook
Yarn needle
Stitch marker or scrap of yarn
Stitches used:
American Stitches used
Magic Ring – http://www.planetjune.com/blog/tutorials/magic-ring-right-handed/
Single Crochet – sc
Chain – ch
Double Crochet – dc
Round – rnd(s)
Repeat – rep
Crochet abbreviation chart can be found here:

Starting at bottom
Note: I changed color after each round carrying the yarn not in use up the inside. My first rnd was in white and I ended with the Sunny Sky for the last rnd. I didn’t put the color changes in the following. Mark first stitch of each round if desired, move marker up each round.
Rnd 1 begin with a Magic Ring, make 6 sc in ring, pull up and tighten magic ring. Do not join rnd, you will be working in a spiral for a while. 6 stitches
Rnd. 2 Make 2 sc in each stitch around. 12 stitches
Rnd. 3 Make 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next, repeat around. 18 stitches
Rnd 4 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 2, repeat around. 24 stitches
Rnd 5 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 3, repeat around. 30 stitches
Rnd 6 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 4, repeat around. Join to first stitch with a slip stitch. 36 stitches
Rnd 7 dc in joining stitch, dc in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch in first dc. 36 dc
Rnds 8-19 repeat rnd 7, finish off, weave in ends
Tie- make a chain of 100 chains, weave in ends. Weave thru last round of dc, slip on jar pull tie tight and tye in a bow.
I think the flowers look prettier now, what do you think?
