Fall of 2018 had good and bad! I went on a cruise in October with my sister Helen and had a great time. It was a cruise to New England and Canada. We had stops in Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, Halifax and we were supposed to stop at St John Bay of Fundy but the weather was too stormy. Pics of the ship and a few stops.

The kids took turns taking care of Rob while I was gone and things went smoothly. I’m sad to say my little Red Bone became ill and crossed the rainbow bridge.

About a week before Thanksgiving I fell and broke my left arm! Great finish for the year! Fortunately it wasn’t put in a cast and it has improved slowly but pretty much put an end to plans for crafting for Christmas. We finished the year with a quiet New Year at home. Here are some of the things I created in 2018.

Hi all, Hoping everyone is having a great weekend! Mines pretty good so far. I managed to get a few things done yesterday. The sewing room got cleaned, I hemmed 2 pair of pants for Samantha and I sewed 2 QAYG blocks.

I was going to finish the edges of the pants with the serger but it was uncooperative and the thread kept breaking so I ended up just using an overcast stitch on the sewing machine and they turned out fine.

I’ve been using the Kenmore 1030 for the QAYG blocks and went to wind a bobbin and the clutch was so tight I couldn’t loosen it. I called son Nicholas and he came over and loosened it.

Current WIPS

QAYG I following a YouTube video from the Quilt as you go made Modern book. I have 13 blocks completed. I’m going to put joining strips between the blocks

Next up is my Cruise Shawl that I am knitting with a knook. This is a knook https://www.amazon.com/Knook-Expanded-Beginner-Leisure-Arts/dp/1464704066/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1536504731&sr=8-2&keywords=

I’m using this pattern Terribly Simple the yarn is Yarn Bee Dee-Lisa Boutique in the colorway Love & Licorice.

I’m writing a loom knit sock pattern and this is it with completed toe and 25 rounds on the foot. The yarn is Kroy Socks in the color Marl Rose Brown.

Last I started a Nativity set a few years ago and just started working on Mary. This is the Ravelry project page for the completed ones Christmas Nativity

I need to add Mary’s hair and finish the head scarf.

I also have a loom knit hat in progress that I didn’t take a picture of.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Wow! It has been 5 years since I’ve posted here. A lot of changes have happened in my life over the years. The major changes are My husband Rob was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about a year and a half ago and that brought big changes. He is no longer able to work. I now stay home and care for him. We sold our home and moved into a retirement community. Grandchildren have increased by two, our youngest now has two sons and we care for them 3 days a week.

I still loom knit, crochet and sew. I’ve also been quilting I made this quilt for my sister Helen

I sent it out to be quilted but I did all the piecing and hand stitched the binding.

This one for my granddaughter Amber

I did diagonal lines of walking foot quilting on it.

This one for grandson Tanner

I just tied Tanners instead of quilting it.

and this one for grandson Adrik

I also tied Adrik’s. The dinosaurs are all machine embroidered blocks.

I’ve also learned how to do pin loom weaving and Knooking.

Hi all, I got some unexpected time at home this afternoon. Did I spend my time doing dishes, laundry or cleaning? Of course not!!! I spent the time with a knitting loom, an old movie and Weezer cuddled in the chair with me. The project I worked on is the KaylinnClutch

The movie was Flowers in the Attic
I very much enjoyed the afternoon.

Hi all I joined a group on Ravelry called 52 weeks of Granny in which you do one granny square a week all year long. I am using a variety of colors of leftover yarns and joining as I go with white. I am doing a basic 3 round granny plus the final white round. I am going to try for getting 5 squares a week done, I did it in weeks 1 and 2 hope I can keep it up.
This is week 3

Hi all, hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Mine was pretty good I had the pleasure of relaxing with my crochet and loom knitting pretty much all day! I worked on my Tunisian Wingspan, I am on triangle 6 only 2 more to go! I also worked on some more hexipuffs, I got 4 more done and I wound 20 balls of yarn in preparation for a Granny Blanket, I really want one for my queen size bed just not sure I will stick with it. It was a really nice day to just relax and do what I wanted, in the evening we made steak, baked potatoes and corn on the cob all cooked on the grill and Rob set off some very loud fireworks! Recently I completed a loomed jar cover, a hot water bottle cover and a pair of slippers.

Hi all hope you are having a great weekend! I am, the mail delivered my new EFG sock loom from Kiss Looms a lovely little loom it has 56 pegs and is adjustable as to the number of pegs with a fixed Gauge. I love it, I am going to be trying a hexipuff on it tonite. I need to catch up with Marilou she has made a whopping 197 puffs, want to see them? She sent me a pic, here it is

There sure are some pretty puffs, thanks for the pic Marilou! Ya’ll have a great evening! Angel

Hi all,I’ve decided to make a Tunisian Crochet Sampler blanket! I am using the instructions I found on this site there are videos and also written instructions. There are 64 different stitches on this website. I will be using Vanna’s Choice Yarn and a size J (5.5mm) Denise Interchangeable Crochet Hook. I am going to try and complete at least 2 squares a week, here are the first 2
Square 1 Tunisian Simple Stitch TSS
Yarn color 180 Cranberry
chain 27, work 20 rows includes foundation chain in row count, bindoff with slipstitch
Measures:7″x7″ blocked
Was quick and easy and I really like the finished square.
Completed on Wed Jun 12, 2013

20130619-164401.jpg
Square 2-Tunisian Full Stitch TFS
Yarn color 108 Dusty Blue
Chain 23 work 33 rows bindoff in Slipstitch following stitch pattern
Measures 7″x 7″ blocked
could have chained 25 to start and worked 32 rows
Completed Fri Jun 14, 2013
I tried to crochet somewhat loose, but the block had a lot of curl.
Had a little trouble with this one on the forward pass, I kept ending up with the wrong # of stitches so make sure and count at the end of the forward pass.
This took a lot more yarn than my first one. Not sure I’ll make more of this one.
the fabric feels a bit stiff.

Hi all I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Mine has been pretty good, I got a bit done around the house and have spent some time with hook and yarn and I’m pleased to say I have a completed project! Earlier in the week Elena from Beatriceryandesigns
posted about these cute Mary Jane SkimmersI went and checked them out and of course bought the pattern. I completed a pair this weekend for myself, I wear slippers at work (no shoes allowed in my room, crawling babies) only they look like real shoes. Since I am on carpet all day I chose not to make them non-skid or outdoor useable, but the pattern author has a nice article about this on her blog: http://hookcandy.blogspot.com/2011/10/making-crocheted-slippers-non-slip.html

Aren’t they cute! the pattern can be found here on Ravelry
I found the pattern to be easy to follow and well written. It cost a bit more than I usually will pay for a single item pattern, but I am glad I splurged.
I made the XS size with an I hook with Red Heart Love yarn in the color lettuce and Caron One Pound in the color espresso. I really enjoyed working with the Love yarn, even with 2 strands it was nice, the Caron on the other hand was difficult a bit too stiff and hard to work with 2 strands. They fit perfectly, I wear size 6 shoes. I already have plans for another pair, just need to decide on the yarn.
I will purchase from HookCandy again, I saw a couple of other patterns I thought I might like. Time to cook supper I am making Ham and Asparagus Fried Rice from this recipe
http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/fried-rice-with-ham-asparagus-10000001875644/
Ya’ll have a great week! Angel
