Hi all, I hope everyone had a great long weekend! Mine has been very relaxing and lazy. I did manage to complete the Tunisian Crochet Wingspan Shawl I was working on, I started it back in May using the loom knit version, this is my post about it. It was turning out way smaller than I wanted it to so I frogged it and started over with different yarn. I finished it today! I handwashed it, dryed it till just damp in the dryer and blocked it on my bed

20130707-171733.jpg after I took it off the bed the corners were curling a bit

20130707-172017.jpg
I was real happy with that, so I steamed each triangle and now they don’t curl!

Crystal doesn’t look very happy, she stopped by and I snagged her to be my model! I love the shawl, I think it is pretty and it was so fun to make! Headed to my son’s for dinner. Ya’ll have a great evening.

Hi all, hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July! Mine was pretty good I had the pleasure of relaxing with my crochet and loom knitting pretty much all day! I worked on my Tunisian Wingspan, I am on triangle 6 only 2 more to go! I also worked on some more hexipuffs, I got 4 more done and I wound 20 balls of yarn in preparation for a Granny Blanket, I really want one for my queen size bed just not sure I will stick with it. It was a really nice day to just relax and do what I wanted, in the evening we made steak, baked potatoes and corn on the cob all cooked on the grill and Rob set off some very loud fireworks! Recently I completed a loomed jar cover, a hot water bottle cover and a pair of slippers.

Hi all, I was recently asked to test a pattern for Corinne at Crochet4mybutterfly the pattern crocheted up very nicely, I acheived the gauge called for in the pattern. It was an easy pattern to follow and had very few mistakes or things I did not understand. Overall it is a very nicely written pattern, I would have been pleased if I had purchased the pattern. I am happy with the finished hat.
What I used to make it:
Yarn – yarn bee first love bulky #5
Hook I (5.5)
Brimmed Hat with Cables pattern by Corinne at Crochet4mybutterfly

The hat in the above picture has not been blocked yet, head on over to her Website http://crochet4mybutterfly.com/
and see what else she has. Ya’ll have a great afternoon!

Hi all,I’ve decided to make a Tunisian Crochet Sampler blanket! I am using the instructions I found on this site there are videos and also written instructions. There are 64 different stitches on this website. I will be using Vanna’s Choice Yarn and a size J (5.5mm) Denise Interchangeable Crochet Hook. I am going to try and complete at least 2 squares a week, here are the first 2
Square 1 Tunisian Simple Stitch TSS
Yarn color 180 Cranberry
chain 27, work 20 rows includes foundation chain in row count, bindoff with slipstitch
Measures:7″x7″ blocked
Was quick and easy and I really like the finished square.
Completed on Wed Jun 12, 2013

20130619-164401.jpg
Square 2-Tunisian Full Stitch TFS
Yarn color 108 Dusty Blue
Chain 23 work 33 rows bindoff in Slipstitch following stitch pattern
Measures 7″x 7″ blocked
could have chained 25 to start and worked 32 rows
Completed Fri Jun 14, 2013
I tried to crochet somewhat loose, but the block had a lot of curl.
Had a little trouble with this one on the forward pass, I kept ending up with the wrong # of stitches so make sure and count at the end of the forward pass.
This took a lot more yarn than my first one. Not sure I’ll make more of this one.
the fabric feels a bit stiff.

Hi all I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. Mine has been pretty good, I got a bit done around the house and have spent some time with hook and yarn and I’m pleased to say I have a completed project! Earlier in the week Elena from Beatriceryandesigns
posted about these cute Mary Jane SkimmersI went and checked them out and of course bought the pattern. I completed a pair this weekend for myself, I wear slippers at work (no shoes allowed in my room, crawling babies) only they look like real shoes. Since I am on carpet all day I chose not to make them non-skid or outdoor useable, but the pattern author has a nice article about this on her blog: http://hookcandy.blogspot.com/2011/10/making-crocheted-slippers-non-slip.html

20130609-174926.jpg

20130609-174948.jpg

Aren’t they cute! the pattern can be found here on Ravelry
I found the pattern to be easy to follow and well written. It cost a bit more than I usually will pay for a single item pattern, but I am glad I splurged.
I made the XS size with an I hook with Red Heart Love yarn in the color lettuce and Caron One Pound in the color espresso. I really enjoyed working with the Love yarn, even with 2 strands it was nice, the Caron on the other hand was difficult a bit too stiff and hard to work with 2 strands. They fit perfectly, I wear size 6 shoes. I already have plans for another pair, just need to decide on the yarn.
I will purchase from HookCandy again, I saw a couple of other patterns I thought I might like. Time to cook supper I am making Ham and Asparagus Fried Rice from this recipe
http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/fried-rice-with-ham-asparagus-10000001875644/
Ya’ll have a great week! Angel

Good morning all, I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. Mine has been pretty good, this afternoon I will be going to the movies ( I haven’t been in a couple of years) I am going with the kids and we are seeing Star Trek Into Darkness http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1408101/ it should be fun.

Lately I have been having a lot of pain in my right hand especially if I crochet, so I am taking a little break from it and have been loom knitting lately. The project I chose is the lovely Wingspan Shawl. This shawl has a pattern available for needle knitting ( original ) one for loom knitting and one also in tunisian crochet. It was offered as a class last year in LoomClass http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LoomClass/?yguid=219940051 and I didn’t have time to make it then. Later I came across the tunisian version and wanted to try that too. I have the pattern and will try it in the future when my hand problem is gone. Here are links to all 3 versions

Hope ya’ll have a great rest of the weekend

Hello all, At the beginning of the year I decided I would make a table runner for each season or holiday. This one is my spring one. I sewed the first 2 one for Valentines snx ond fof St Patricks day. This is my spring one. I finished this little table runner last week and have been waiting for the sunshine to take pics. I used Tunisian crochet and I got the idea from this afghan http://appleblossomdreams.blogspot.com/2012/10/rockman-afghan-cal-week-1.html?m=1
I made 4 strips of 15 squares using the tunisian simple stitch each square is made up of 10 stitches by 7 rows for each color block. I did a border of shell stitch.

The yarns are simply soft and an H hook.

Good morning all! We are back in the freezer here in Michigan! Temperatures are in the 30’s. Brrr! Eventually it will stay warm here. I have been having some hand pain recently which I am sure is caused by crocheting too much 😦 So I pulled out my looms and started working on some Hexipuffs. I am using the Hexigonal Geopuff pattern from loomlady the pattern is in the sidebar. Until yesterday I had made all of them on the flower loom called for in the pattern. I decided to try them on a Kiss Loom

20130512-091226.jpg

The loom I used has 24 pegs and I made it according to the pattern I marked every 4th peg and just knit the extra stitches. I really like the way it turned out! It feels a little softer and squishier and is slightly larger than the ones on the flower loom.

20130512-091425.jpg

I still want to make a blanket out of these I guess I should work on them more often. My little pile above has 28 in it! Not very many since I started these a year ago. Ya’ll have a great day!
