I just completed my block from the Ribbon Block LAL over on the Kiss Yahoo Group The LAL was a lot of fun and a great learning experience. My block is a little unique, I messed up some on following the chart and didn’t always change colors when I should have. I am also not happy with the edges at he color changes not sure what I did wrong. I will definitely be making more of these. The pattern for the block can be found on the Kiss Website

Ribbon Block

I also wanted to remind everyone today is the Kiss Chat and we are having a contest details are here . Have a great Day.

I’ve completed a couple of things since I last posted

here. An afghan block that I am using a technique that I am calling skipped peg color work and is achieved with 2 colors of yarn and you simply wrap the loom with one color of yarn skipping say every other peg and than go back and wrap the empty pegs with the other color of yarn. I tried this because a group member over on the Kiss Yahoo Group was trying to achieve a tighter gauge. Here is my swatch:

Here is the afghan block

skipped peg afghan block

I used a slim compact Kiss Loom, I plan to make about 12 of these varying the way I wrap the loom, I have the second one started.

I also completed another oven mitt from Gettin it Pegged I also made a matching Scrubby O also from Gettin it Pegged

I’m much happier with this one. I used I Love this Cotton yarn from Hobby Lobby and a Kiss Loom.

Just wanted to remind everyone the Kiss Looms contest starts today! Details below :

Weezer got a hair cut last week and has been freezing. I can’t find the sweater I knit him a few years ago and he has one that I sewed but it keeps coming off. The other day I got tired of picking it up from outside in the snow and decided to make him a new one.

Weezer in his sweater

The pattern I used is the Sock it to me dog Sweater by Brenda Meyers The loom I used is a 36 peg kiss loom made up of 4 9-peg modular pieces. I pretty much followed the pattern, the yarn I used is 1 strand of worsted weight that I had in my stash, no ball band but I think it might be Red Heart. It fits pretty good, though I should have made it longer and best of all he seems to like it. He isn’t shivering as much when he has it on.

I finshed the scarf that I am sending to Graciela to be donated to Threads of Compassion in Vivians memory. Vivian was an active member on many loom knitting groups. She passed away in October 2010. Kiss Loom Group members are sending the scarves to a charity that she was involved with. I knit the scarf on a slim compact Kiss Loom. I used 22 pegs and knit 2 pegs and skipped 2pegs repeated across the row, on the next row I skipped 2 pegs and knit 2 pegs across. The scarf is 60 inches long and when flat 5 inches wide, the yarn used was TLC baby in color New Mint Sparkle.

Snow in my backyard

It has been a cold snowy day here in Southwest Michigan. This morning we had almost no snow on the ground and now there are several inches and we are supposed to get several more by Saturday, love that Lake Effect Snow. It has been great I’ve been watching The Practice on Hulu and loom knitting. I changed projects after each episode. So far I have made progress on Rob’s socks, the guitar strap, Vivian’s scarf and my second oven mitt. I am going to make Spaghetti Soup. I think I am going to use green beans instead of corn though. I don’t think corn goes with tomatoes. I am hoping Molly will eat it, she is coming over to spend the night. Crystal and Roy are going out for the evening.

Well so far I am doing good in 2011, I have finished 2 projects already. I finished the Granny Square Scarf I was making for the Michigan Special Olympics

Special Olympic Scarf

Today I finished an Oven Mitt from the LAL at Gettin it Pegged

I was looking through my pictures and found a few more items from 2010, I guess I accomplished a little more than I thought.

Easter Baskets

These are easter baskets of my own design, I never wrote a pattern for them, all of my grandchildren got one for Easter.

Socks that I knit 2 at a time

I made these on my Kiss sock loom knitting them at the same time.  They ended up a little big for me, so I gave them to Samantha and they fit her perfectly.

Molly's apron

I made this for Molly, I used a needleknit pattern from Frugal Knitting Haus

Travel Tote

This is the pattern that I designed for the Loom Knitting Retreat it can be purchased as part of a booklet from the retreat at KellyKnits

Kiss Kid

I test knit this pattern for Tammy Rodgers Tammy wrote the pattern to be used for Charity Knitting.

The above doll was knit on a slim regular 2way loom and the one below was knit from the same pattern with no changes on a kiss sock loom

Kiss Kid 2

The dolls are now in possession of 2 of my granddaughters

Mini Stockings

I created these little stockings for the Kiss Loom Birthday Party, the pattern is available on the pattern page

Sock Bookmark

The Sock Bookmark was also created for the Kiss Birthday Party, Pattern ison the pattern page

I have done terrible about keeping this updated, I am going to try and do better in 2011.

I became a moderator in the Loom Class group

Drawstring Bassinet PUrse

I did a lot of knitting in 2010, but I did not keep very good track of my projects and right now it feels like I did not accomplish much. So I am going to list here what I hope to accomplish in 2011.

Loom Knit Oven Mitt this I will be starting on Monday as I am participating in a LAL at Gettin it Pegged I hope to make 3 of them

Slippers for Rob I haven’t picked a pattern yet

Pocket Scarf no pattern yet

Guitar strap for Tim this is my design and is started on a short compact kiss loom set up as a board, can’t show a photo as I left it at Crystal’s yesterday.

Peppermint Scarf for Sam how to’s at LoomLore this is started.

Baby Blanket for niece Sara baby is do in July or August not sure of pattern yet I made a pinwheel blanket for her sister’s son Wyatt last year

Pattern by Denise Layman

I would also like to convert crocheted Barbie Clothes to the Loom, I crocheted a bunch of them for Chloe, Jen and Molly for Christmas and boy were my hands sore.  and apparently I did not save the photos of them.

I would also like to make an afghan, no pattern chosen yet.

I would also like to do more charity knitting and I have a scarf in progress for Vivian’s memorial to Threads of Compassion this is being organized by Graciela Worth

I am about halfway through a scarf for the Special Olympics, I am crocheting granny squares

I would also like to sew a lot more this year and I should have the time, since I got laid off in October and I maybe going back to school.
